The foundation’s purpose is closely tied to the house itself: to preserve and maintain this 19th-century residence as a living example of Singaraja’s architectural and civic heritage, and to make its story accessible to visitors and the wider public.
Through careful stewardship, educational sharing of the building’s history, and support for related cultural or community initiatives, the foundation helps keep the memory and physical presence of Roemah Soenda Ketjil meaningful for future generations.
A living heritage house that sustains more than itself
Roemah Soenda Ketjil is operated so that its commercial activities — the restaurant, the small museum and the event spaces — generate the resources needed to care for the building and to support a non-profit foundation. This model allows a significant piece of Singaraja’s heritage to remain active and useful while contributing to purposes beyond day-to-day operations.
The foundation exists to ensure that the long-term care of the house, the sharing of its history, and related community or cultural work can continue in a sustainable way.
